Rutgers-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School (RWJMS) and RWJBarnabas Health System (RWJBH) are seeking a Division Chief and System Director for Pediatric Surgery. The candidate will be a board-certified pediatric general surgeon at the Associate or Professor level and expected to have responsibility and oversight for the operation and programmatic aspects of the division and to provide system-wide leadership to pediatric surgery. The individual will actively participate in medical student, resident and fellow education through didactic lectures, research activities, evaluation of programs, interviews, small group sessions and/or clinical supervision. In addition, the Division Chief/System Director will be expected to participate in all aspects of clinical care, including mentoring of junior faculty at all sites where care is administered.

The quaternary center for surgical care is at the Bristol Myers Squibb Childrens Hospital (BMSCH) at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick. Pediatric surgery is also provided at 3 additional hospitals in the health system: Childrens Hospital of New Jersey at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center, Unterberg Childrens Hospital at Monmouth Medical Center and Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center. The right candidate will be considered for the position of Surgeon-in-Chief of BMSCH.

RWJBH is the largest health system in NJ, consisting of 12 acute care hospitals and serving a population of 5 million individuals across the state. The RWJBHs Childrens Health Network, the largest provider of pediatric care in the state, includes four comprehensive acute care Childrens Hospitals/Centers, a pediatric rehabilitation and long-term care hospital, nearly 900 primary and specialty care providers, and the full array of tertiary and quaternary physical and mental health services for children.
