Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (Neonatology)

Opportunity to join an established team of Advanced Practice Providers supporting newborn intensive care units in the Salt Lake Valley including:

Primary Children's Hospital level IV NICU
Intermountain Medical Center level III
LDS Hospital level II
Riverton Hospital level II
Alta View Hospital level I

Onboarding will be provided at Primary Children's and Intermountain Medical Center, afterwards the APP may rotate to any of our other facilities in the area. Beginning in early 2024, there will be opportunity to float to our newly built Primary Children's Hospital in Lehi, Utah also.

Full time, our APPs work an average of 3 12-hour shifts per week, which includes rotating day (0600-1800), night (1800-0600), weekend, and holiday responsibilities. Opportunity for flexible schedule including part time hours may be available.

Salt Lake Valley is located at the base of the Wasatch Mountains and is within an hours drive of nine world-renowned ski resorts and within a days drive of five national parks. Along with these recreational attractions, there are many cultural and sporting events. There are performances by the Utah Symphony, Ballet West and Pioneer Theater Company, as well as a renovated theater that offers Broadway plays. The Sundance Film Festival and the Park City Art Festival are nationally recognized events held in nearby communities. The NBAs Jazz, ECHL Utah Grizzlies hockey, the AAA Salt Lake Bees, the Utah Warriors Rugby team, and the MLS Real Salt Lake, all represent our state.

Job Essentials

Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) are accountable for the provision of patient care at the top of licensure, within their scope of practice. Licensed, credentialed and privileged to perform such duties as:

  • Maintenance and promotion of health and prevention of disease;
  • Assessment, diagnosis, treatment, correction, and consultation;
  • Procedures as outlined by specialty, and referral for health problems;
  • Education of the patient, patient's family, clinical staff, and others;
  • Prescription or administration of prescription drugs or devices in accordance with a consultation and referral plan;
  • Consultation with other healthcare providers;
  • Appropriate and timely documentation of clinical care;
  • Continually learning and developing for optimal patient care and outcomes.

Advanced Practice Providers may also participate in research, utilize evidence-based practice to improve quality patient care, protocol development, care process model development, and best practice standards for assigned patient population throughout our organization.

Minimum Qualifications

Current state license as an Advance Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) or Physician Assistant (PA).

Certification as a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner
or
Certification as a Physician Assistant and one or more years of NICU experience.
- and -
Eligible for State Controlled Substance License.
- and -
Eligible for Federal DEA Certificate II through V.
- and -
BLS Certification for Healthcare Providers.
- and -
Other certification as required (eg ACLS, PALS, TNCC, NRP).
